Shivers of Forests and Waters

Opera · 2025 · poetry · visuals · longing

Deep in the forest, where moss, fungi, deer, wolves, and insects live together in luminescent harmony, a web of invisible relationships unfolds. At the same time, in the ocean, corals, jellyfish, and whales pulse within an order of their own, equally rich in voices. Two worlds, different yet related, share a quiet resonance.

Within this space of tension, we encounter the Saffron Milk Cap, a mushroom inexplicably drawn to the sea, and the Strawberry Anemone, a sea anemone with an unexpected longing for the forest. Both feel a strange emptiness, as though a counterpart were missing — one whose form they themselves do not yet know.

The Swallow, a charming traveler between sky, treetops, and sea breeze, takes on the role of poetic mediator. She senses that a transformation is approaching and gently guides the two seekers toward one another. While roots, trees, coral reefs, and choruses of creatures alternately encourage and warn them, the mushroom and the anemone embark on a journey that begins to reorder their realities.

With every step, the boundaries between them begin to erode: the forest breathes like the sea, and the sea whispers like a canopy of leaves. Voices and images merge into a shared impulse that flows through both realms.

In the finale, the mushroom and the anemone meet at the threshold between their worlds. In their union, roots and corals intertwine, wind and water weave into one another. And in that moment, it becomes clear that what was thought impossible not only can happen, but must happen — as though only through their encounter can the greater pattern finally be understood.
